Terminology

Themelios (Yun. Θεμέλιος) is literally translated as foundation or substruction (of a building, wall, tower, or city; Luke 6:48-49; 14:29; Acts 16:26)

Metaphorically it can also denote the first principals of truth system, or beginnings of an institution (1 Cor. 3:11: “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ”; NIV; Eph. 2:20: “Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets.  And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself”; NLT; 2 Timotius 2:19 “However, God’s solid foundation remains standing, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord] must turn away from evil”; NET)

In line with these biblical meanings, this site seeks to introduce foundational and solid teachings of the Christian faith through contemporary articles, books, or videos, in various languages.  May the Lord be glorified!
